I specialize in supporting adults with a variety of concerns including depression, anxiety, parenting, work and relationship stress, and life transitions. Whether you face specific challenges or are interested in self-exploration, I provide a safe, compassionate and collaborative space to explore thoughts and feelings, build upon your strengths and change patterns that no longer serve you.
My integrative approach incorporates elements of psychodynamic psychotherapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical-behavioral therapy (DBT), and mindfulness techniques, as well as relational and family systems perspectives.
Focusing on the here-and-now and building awareness of the past, I will support you in exploring patterns of emotions, thoughts and behaviors with the goals of fostering healthier relationships and promoting greater life satisfaction.
Therapy is an important tool for addressing many concerns in childhood and adolescence. Awareness of mental health challenges and treatment is of particular concern in the past two years in the context of the pandemic and the multitude of changes youth have faced in their academic and social lives.
Young children express and process their inner experience through play; thus, child therapy focuses on child-directed, play-based sessions, as well as parent-only sessions. Adolescence is a sensitive period of identity development that may include navigation of social and academic pressures, sexuality, and increased independence and mastery. These dynamics can best be explored in talk therapy that is based on understanding and trust.
I provide child-centered play therapy for young children, and talk therapy for adolescents, to process their experiences and learn skills for managing emotions and other specific challenges.
Formal evaluation can provide valuable information about an individual's strengths and areas of growth, as well as result in diagnostic clarification.
I provide psychoeducational evaluations to gain an in-depth understanding of your child's needs, identify difficulties that may be impeding their learning (I.e. Learning disabilities, ADHD, social-emotional difficulties), and provide recommendations for appropriate support.
Testing may also be used to document disabilities that require testing accommodations on standardized exams.
Psychological evaluations can further provide diagnostic clarification for you or your child and help inform care that is best suited for individual needs.
